Episode 085 – Create a Blackboard Image
by heathenx
In this episode I’ll attempt to draw a relatively simple blackboard image and simulate a chalk text effect in Inkscape 0.46.
In this screencast I used a couple textures that you may download here. Also, I used a font called “Eraser” by David Rakowski. Please download those if you wish to play along.

Good job! I can totally see someone pulling together a Bart Simpson chalkboard detention image from this
. “I will not pee in the corner of the classroom” a hundred times or so…
At least I remember that happening to me in elementary school.

I was wondering if I could import new textured / patterns for inkscape.
So would you recommend using the clip method over a “pattern fill” then ?

@Siep
Yes, I use clip instead of pattern fill all of the time to make background textures. Whatever gets the job done, I say. Just don’t forget to embed your images if you plan to pass around your svg.
