While i\’m definitely not a professional, I am however an artist who has transitioned from XP to Ubuntu almost two years ago now. Ive been running photoshop in Ubuntu to handle my needs thus far, but have been wanting to learn GIMP and Inkscape for a while now, just no time! Your tutorials have really helped me so far!! Very easy to understand, straight forward too. I wish I could find a decent GIMP tutorial now so I can get myself completely off of PS. Any tips on finding a good video tutorial blog for GIMP? id be really thankful.

Here is my first Inkscape design (dog & curves created using the angel wing tutorial)…

I’m sure there are a couple of pros that actually use Inkscape in their work… maybe hard to find them since industry standard is adobe, but it will get around. Just look at what the Blender project is delivering and the attention it starts to get.

Scribus is great DTP tool, Im not big fun of DTP but in Serbia some of professional magazines are made in Scribus. In this tutorial we seen that Inkscape can be use maybe for professional DTP or take some part in design of any magazine.
I will like to see if is any need of using Gimp and Inkscape in some professional job. By the way is there any professionals who use Inkscape for something, I will realy like to know for what.

Yes, it would be great to have a site dedicated to Scribus. I’d definitely watch them. Even though I think I’m experienced enough to handle some Scribus screencasts, that would be opening up a can of worms for me. Better stick to my rinky-dink Inkscape screencasts. Your mention of creating a filter to produce a consistent drop-shadow effect to be repeated on a specific image (if I understood correctly) sounds like a good topic for a microsode, eh?

I have Adobe Illustrator at work. I saved as an SVG file for convenience.

Update: I tried Inkscape’s native .ai import and it worked just as well. In this case I wouldn’t have needed Adobe Illustrator but since I had it that’s what I used.

Okay I haven’t watched yet, but I’m assuming by the screenshot that you’re still smarting over the whole ” I’m a Pig and like Donuts” thing.. Fair enough.

Now I’m going to risk a smackdown here by asking whether or not you meant to misspell Nickelback. I’ve checked the Nickelback wallpaper that lines my office walls and I’m pretty sure the spelling is wrong.

I’m glad to see Loverboy made the cover too. I can finally get those white leather pants out of the closet too! Turn me loose!!
