Fantastic work always looking at the work you create and the ideas you throw out there. This one really took my attention, and I have created an ultimate Emo-Skate deck!!! :) this tutorial is so practical not just for snowboards but many design oriantated things... and I think if my EMO-Skate Deck was produced it would probably be priceless haha. Good work and a great theory to produce something for free for people to use.

@schrottplatz

I'm not sure if I could duplicate it 1:1 but am I am pretty sure how it was made. The shapes appear to be a collection of spiro paths and spiro is only available in the 0.46+devel builds, slated for 0.47. Check out my sneak-peek episode 067 for a quick introduction. I believe Andy Fitzsimon was the creator of that image and it appears like he is using a shape as a spiro brush. Out of respect I wouldn't want to duplicate his work. Why not contact Andy and ask him about it?

Simulating light would have been a nice touch. I thought about adding bend glares where the board flips upward on both ends but that likely would have taken a few for minutes pushing the video to the 40 minute mark, which I don't care about but some would rather I get to the point quickly.

Clipping the texture makes it much easier to ensure high-quality results than an image fill. If you used an image fill you run the risk of breaking the pixel-alignment of the texture, which will make it look grotty.

I would have put another duplicate board over the top, with a black/white/transparent gradient to simulate lighting and make the board look less flat.

@Particello

Yup, the pattern tip would have been wise too. One would not have to fiddle with clipping the texture. Woulda, coulda, shouda, I guess. :)

Great Work, Heathenx!

For this work, i think it would be quickier by transform the texture you've done in Gimp in a Pattern by the command Pattern->Object to Pattern..But..As you said..that's the flexibility of Inkscape! :)

Thank you for sharing your work!

Hx great job as expected!

If you are interested, I would love to share with you some simple but effective changes to your gimp setup. You mention that you use Gimp often and I think this will be helpful.

@Zombiebrainz and @Galatea

Thanks for going easy on me. I flubbed up the section where I was using clip and the layer/multiply didn't work as expected. Thank God I'm not a professional otherwise I would have fixed that stuff. ;)

@Galatea

The system font that I use is called "rufscript".

Add this to your apt source:

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/andrewsomething/ubuntu hardy main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/andrewsomething/ubuntu hardy main

or

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/andrewsomething/ubuntu intrepid main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/andrewsomething/ubuntu intrepid main

then:

sudo apt-get update and sudo apt-get install ttf-rufscript

As always your doing a great job. I just love your screencasts, there's always something new to learn, I didn't know about the bitmap vectorisation thing so thanks for that :)
I have only one question which is a little bit out of subject : what's that scripted font your using ? I think it's maybe "hand of sean"; .. I'm kind of customising my Ubuntu and that font looks good.

again merci beaucoup for sharing ;)

ps: excuse my poor english.
