Funny that you mention Xara. I used to be a Xara user (still use it on occasion). I know Inkscape gets compared to Adobe Illustrator much of the time. That's fine I guess but I don't want to see Inkscape go after Adobe. I want Inkscape to go after Xara (in a friendly way, of course)...because I think Xara is better than Adobe Illustrator. If Inkscape could someday be on par with Xara then look out!

I have respect for Xara because they don't chew up their customers with ridiculously priced software and seem to have a pretty good community around it. I felt good about buying it (actually, my company bought it for me) because it's great software...and Linux users get a free stripped down copy to play with as well. :)

I truly hope Inkscape can offer some brush capabilities soon. the open source Linux version of Xara has them.. I just wish Inkscape did.

It is interesting to hear your excitement about 0.47 while users are still recovering from the impact of 0.46 ;-) And as you said, what will 1.0 be like?

K, got it. Newbie mistake. I was clicking on the node icon on the toolbar on the left of the screen, not in the bend path dialog box. Doh!

Looks, cool.
When I wanted to try it, it didn't work for me. Tried to figure out why, but I'm sure I followed your example, and checked tav's notes to make sure. When I try the rectangle, for example, apply the bend path, select the object with the node tool, I don't get the "green" path. I do get a red path that surrounds the object.

Tried it several times. Anyway, I'll watch the the rest of it to see the other effects, and try to figure out what's wrong later.
