That's great, H. Many thanks for taking the time. I worked out a slightly different approach, out of frustration, where I simply took the clones one at a time, centred, un-grouped then deleted the guide circle. Took longer but got the job done.
Great 2D program, whatever happens!

@Ross

I'm using version 0.48.1 at the moment. I'm unable to get tiled clones to behave properly (without throwing my clones out in right field). I keep praying that someone will actually make tiled clones user friendly but I doubt that day will come soon.

I put together an svg file for you to review. I basically tiled several clones on top of the original and then manually rotated around a circle (or center point). I think you'll get the idea.

Hi. I'm using Inkscape 0.47. Trying to create tiled clones but the settings are out.
What are the 'X' and 'Y', and Exponent values I need to create a clock face without the tiles skidding off on an angle or ending up in a lotus flower effect?
I could do it ages ago but now the tiles don't play ball.
Many thanks

Hi, nice tutorial! I'd never heard of tiled clones before, this really does look useful.

One tip: I notice how you colored and changed the line-thickness of the minute-hands individually.

Next time, just select all four of 'em, and change color / thickness. Your wrist will thank you for it!
