Hi,

Thank you for your quick reply. Your answer helped me out to some degree. I encounter an error however, upon positioning the nodes to match the frame Inkscape closes with an error, (unfortunately no error #) freezes, or crashes. It typically fails from the internal error. Any ideas?

Thanks again,
Zepher

You cannot convert an image (I assume you're talking about a bitmap image like a jpg or png) directly into a path. You can use the Trace Bitmap function to try to convert an image into a path, but you can't do it any other way.

You can however turn a bitmap into a pattern. Then you can use that pattern to fill a rectangular shape. This is most likely what you're after. You can select the bitmap image, then select Object->Object To Pattern. Then you can use this pattern in the Fill tab of the Fill&Stroke dialog box.

If you're not talking about a bitmap sort of image, but something else, let us know.

Hi,

This is a really great site and has been lots of help. I'm using .47 and when I try to convert my image into a path it says "No objects to convert to path in selection" or something close to that. What could be causing this?

Thank you,
Zepher

Hi Paul,

It's a song called Derek Malone by a band called 3 Blind Mice. I heard it initially on the Digital Flotsam podcast.

You can use the exact same method as shown in the video. On the menu bar select Path > Object to Path.
