In my opinion the text treatment that makes up the logo looks more like someone’s quick-n-dirty prototype than something polished and finished. Perhaps Roman is still working on it. I hope so.

What looks out of place to me in the current version is the letter k. It doesn’t fit with the rest of the new ubuntu text. What font is that? Rather than just criticize Roman’s work (I’m sure he’s a much better designer than I am), I mocked up a version that is to my liking. Of course, I understand that what I have done will NEVER see the light of day since I’m not involved in the kubuntu project. Regardless, I have modified the k to look more “unbuntu-ish”.  Also, the black k and tango black ubuntu text looks out of place as well. I chose a k with the same color as the widget logo instead. I wish I had a better image of the original kubuntu logo but I don’t.

…Anyway, I’m just a critic. I’ll get back to work now. :)
