yeah, installed it on today morning at my beloved ubuntu and mac system. But still had a few problems with my mac. The 0.48 version crashed because of my installed icc-profiles. However i´ve found help at the german inkscape forum – thanks again.
By the way, i hope to see a bunch of new episode from you…?
Because i´am a little scared that you will bring a new episode only on the release of a new inkscape version?
Looking forward to see a new one
greeting to all inkscape users out there

I’m taking a break from screencasting for a while but I still use Inkscape often. Hoping 0.48 will be a great release (they usually are).

I always waiting for your next screencasting….sir !!!

@Aditia
You could say that I’m on a rather extended holiday from screencasting. Although, we’re always here if you have any questions.

So .. are you still on a “holiday” from screencasting then? If the key factor is “its too time consuming” (which mostly is the case to stop doing something great) – then what about writing some articles instead?

ps: your contact form doesnt work anymore.

@fwolf
I think my stint at screencasting has run its course. I’ve moved on to other things these days. I’m still a huge Inkscape user, however, I just cannot find the time to teach others anymore. I’m still around, just lurking in the shadows.
Thanks for tipping me off on the contact page. I’ll get it fixed soon. Perhaps I’ll just remove the form all together. Keep it simple.
PS. I got into screencasting so I wouldn’t have to write articles.

a) About the contact form: So there would be no way to contact you at all? Not so good
b) so the site will silently sit there and do nothing? also very bad .. maybe enlisten others to jump in for help / new tutorials / screencasts?

@fwolf
a) Fixed
b) Pretty much. That is the way it has been for a long time now. If you wish to make screencasts then do it and send it to Richard and I for review. If we like it we’ll post.

Hey,
it’s a pity! I’m from Germany and I allways enjoyed your screencasts! Thank you for that! Hope we will see new screencasts – even if it takes a long time! Your site is in my favourites and I will allways look if there are new posts from you.

Heathenx,
Question. In v0.48 you can include a profile with your document properties. I just wonder when you do this with a coated fogra27 and save it as a PDF is it then a total CMYK offset way or do I have still trouble somewhere with it.
Bye the your shows are absolute perfect. my compliments. Just still waiting for a second part of working with CMYK. although take your time there.

@DigiDio
You can include a profile when saving the document as svg, however, Inkscape does not have the capability to export to CMYK pdfs yet. You have to use 3rd party utilities to get it there. For instance, if you can get a CMYK tiff file then it can be converted to pdf with Imagemagick (understand that your original vector gets converted to raster in the end). You can embed a profile into the image.
I’ve used a Brazilian plugin for Inkscape too. The cmyk tiff export plugin works but not the pdf version. Give it a go.

Thanks Heathenx,
I will give it a try but isn’t it so that this will do the same as within GIMP the Separate plugin?
About Gimp how about ink level cmyk correctly, is there a workflow or how. When I separate images in Gimp and turn them over to scribus levels will be to high. more then 300% What can I do in Gimp or Inkscape to bring that down.

@DigiDio
Yes, it’s pretty much the same thing with Gimp’s Separate+ plugin (which I do use). Regarding ink levels, Branko has a pretty good article on CMS with Gimp and he writes about his process for adjusting color levels.
http://www.brankovukelic.com/post/513356271/gimp-color-management-for-dtp
I tried duplicating your process a bit. I used Inkscape to make an image, Gimp to do separation, and Scribus for the import. Not sure I’m seeing anything washed out with too much levels.

Thx Heathenx,
I have to read this post here about separate. very good post. Also a good match today is Inkscape and Blender. really powerfull. normally Gimp using but inkscape is far more quality with workflow. Not aways but you know what I mean
If there will be a next show deeper into CMYK etc, I’ll be there

Hi Heathenx,
Got a problem. In a vector image I’ve got 2 separate nodes but I want to connect them together so the line in the image will be straight. Must be some solution for it. ahhh!
Also I want to work with basic colors that I made by myself. I know there is some option called palletes there but I only get a big red cross without anything. Do you have a show how this works or…

@DigDio
Regarding nodes, you’ll need to “combine” the segments first and then select both of your end nodes and “join selected end nodes with a new segment” (from the node toolbar).
Check out Microsode 003 for a node tut. http://bit.ly/hjXLeG
Regarding pallets, I’ll sometimes work with swatches that I have downloaded or made myself. They just amount to an object that holds the color so that you can use the eye dropper. I keep the swatches off to the side, away from my artwork so it’s handy. Check out Episode 103 at about the 11:35 minute mark. What I pull in is just a PNG of my colors that I made ahead of time. http://bit.ly/ibZ3KF
