Not able to screencast :(
October 12th, 2009 by heathenxHey peoples,
It seems that I have broken some packages on my Ubuntu 9.04 system. Not sure if it’s RecordMyDesktop (which I have never had problems with in the past) or a few suspicious encoders that I installed from PPA a few weeks ago. Place your bets. Unfortunately it isn’t something I’m going to tear into an try to fix this close to the release of Ubuntu 9.10. That’s just a couple of weeks around the corner. I plan to format my system for that release since I usually end up installing a bunch of experimental thingies between releases anyway. I like a clean system.
I had episode 098 lined up and screencasted but it encoded so horribly that it’s unwatchable. Syncing issues, dropped frames…nasty. Unfortunately this post serves as an announcement that I won’t have any screencasts this month, at least not by me. So hopefully everything with Ubuntu 9.10 will be alright and I’ll be back in business.
See you then.

Sorry to hear about the PPA issues. Just some humble advice; stay away from PPA’s and use the standard repositories. There are a few questions:
1) do they resolve dependencies?
2) Do they adjust for package conflicts?
Just a few questions that I haven’t found answers. Personally my suspicion is no; they don’t.
PS: I wish there was a preview mode in here.
PSS: Great video’s and thanks for teaching people inkscape.
Best regards.
