Thanks for the great suggestions. I'm trying right now to figure out which photo to "cut up". I would love to do a portrait type of photo (I've got several good ones I've taken of my daughter), but I worry about where the face will lie etc. Maybe a landscape or sunset photo would work better. I'll probably do it on a smaller scale. Something like 24"x24" out of 6" squares just to test out the concept.

I'll definitely post about it once I do it.

Hi! I've done something similar with my "scrapbooking" projects/supplies. Never a poster - great idea!
If you're going to cut them apart and use no frame why not print them all out separately and then mount them on 12x12 styrofoam boards/sheets yourself? The look is NOW and a great way to display your work.
1" thick styrofoam is less expensive than the foamcore or hard board and easy to work with.
Print each individual picture 12x12 or whatever size you desire.
If you can't find the correct size styrofoam sheets/boards buy large and cut to size.
Paint 1" sides with black (or desired color) paint or cover with 1" paper, wide ribbon, metal strip or whatever.
Using craft glue or Mod Podge (craft section at Wally World) adhere photos to styrofoam boards.
Add a hook (hardware section at Wally World) to the back of each with craft glue and/or craft pins and hang up your art work in desired grid..
This is high end art/decor design used by office/home decor designers.
Great idea - would love to see your finished work.

I would get it printed in one piece. I do not like these cuts and it is not that expensive (unless you need a really large poster, let's say more than 1 or 2 m2). I have no experience with foamcore, though. I would fix the poster afterwards to a piece of hard board or frame it.

Maybe printing the whole grid of images to one piece of foamcore and cutting them out (carefully!). ?? Dunno. Thinking out loud here.
