Just to let you know, PCLOS my distro of choice, has had 0.46 in the repos for about a week now. Tex and the gang are pretty good about pushing through popular applications in PCLOS.

One thing that endeared me to Inkscape was the friendly UI. Doing a cursory look 'round in 0.46, I'm sure all the new features will set me back into full fledged learning mode, not that I'm an expert to begin with. Looking forward to some new features screencasts.

Thanks for fixing the (404 - Not Found).

Cheers

Yeah, I don't have a full understanding of why the filter dialog is so complex. It doesn't feel user friendly to me. Perhaps the developers had good reasons for this...and it is new to this release. Maybe the interface will get better over time.

At the moment I am ploughing through the release notes. I must admit that I was also confused at first when experimenting with the SVG filter effects. The way of concatenating filters is not that obvious. But once you get the feeling for it, they are powerful.

@Jaws

Hopefully soon. I believe Richard has already switched over to it but I am still waiting for an openSUSE release since that is what I mainly screencast on. I just read that a 0.46pre4-2 was released for Windows. Anyway, it might take a week or two (or more). I definitely would like to screencast some of the newer features. The new filter feature confuses the heck out of me. Once I make heads or tails out of that then maybe I can provide a tutorial or two.

Aren't new releases exciting? I can't wait to use 0.46 full time.

I suppose it's too early to say exactly, but have you thought about when you'll be switching over to 0.46 screencasts? I'm guessing you'll wait to at least all the versions are final, but after that?

Wow,
Inkscape 046 is great. I installed the Ubuntu Gutsy deb package on my Debian Lenny box without a hitch. I love the on screen gradient editing feature. It's made an immediate impact on my artwork. I found one little glitch with the fill/stroke dialog box when in "floating dialog" mode and filed a bug report. I'm not sire I like the "dock", but may give it a try later.

Indeed, tons of new features in Inkscape 0.46. I am looking forward to see some new screencasts.
