“Calgon, take me away!”

March 6th, 2008 by heathenx

I’m in one of those moods this morning where I am so buried in work and no end in sight that the only thing keeping me from going ballistic on someone is music. When I am busy the day goes by quickly but that doesn’t reduce my stress levels. For me, listening to some tunes seems to calm me down a bit while I work. It was like that for me growing up as well. Whenever I was doing homework (grade school through college) it always seemed like I had my stereo on or a television going in the background.

I go through spurts and phases with my music collection. I get into new stuff and then I fall back on the “classic” stuff…the stuff I grew up with. I really like a full range of music too - the blues, southern rock, pop, new wave, techno/electronic, classic rock, alternative, mainstream alternative, and indie rock just to name a few popular genres that I listen too. Of course I am not good at classifying music. I never know what genre it is. Don’t care either. Just know what I like.

So today it’s The Black Crowes and The Elms all day. The ‘Crowes have been around for a long time. They’re part of the reason why I learned to play guitar. They need no introduction. The Elms are a kick-ass band from my home state of Indiana. I hadn’t heard of these guys until I got a tip from my brother-in-law a couple of years ago. Now I’m hooked. They’re a great band. If you like bluesy rock then both bands will satisfy your fix.

Now, if I could only get through an entire song without pausing it due to my phone ringing off of the hook then it would be even better. ;)

Buried in work? I doubt it. You had apparently an abundance of time to compose this message.

Anyway, thanks for pointing to The Elms. It is playing right now on my computer and does not sound bad at all.

Okay. The truth is…I don’t even have a job. Unless counting how many licks it takes to get to the center of a tootsie roll tootsie-pop counts…173 by the way. I don’t get paid for that. I just like to help out where I can. You know…for the community. ;)

I’m also a bottle inspector at the famous Elsinore Brewery. Ever since a mouse was found in one of the bottles in the early eighties they rely on me pretty heavily to monitor things. I do this part time.

Furthermore, I’m the Assistant Director of Refreshments at out local Imperial Stormtrooper support group. I take this job pretty seriously. I like to minimize removing our helmets often when eating and drinking.

Debbie Gibson and Corey Hart for tomorrow. Who’s with me? What the hell…let’s throw in some Richard Cheese while we’re at it. :)

Corey Hart? Hell man, I’m casting a vote for Platinum Blonde.

I’ve never heard of Richard Cheese before, but the line on his website that reads “click here if your computer sucks and you don’t have flash” immediately gets my respect. ;)

Weren’t you also a donut-taster/dishwasher at Stan Makita’s Donuts too? Man you do get around. :)

Ha! Yeah, I forgot about Stan Makita’s. I don’t like to talk about that one because he fired me for stealing Slim Jims.

Hey, did I let you borrow my Platinum Blonde 45’s because I can’t find mine?

    Awww, no new screencasts :(
